Kate Moss has been one of the most recognizable faces in the fashion industry since the late 1980s. She is best known for transforming the typical stereotype of the supermodel with her waif-like figure. Now in her 30s, Moss is still one of the most successful and legendary supermodels in the world right up there with Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.Kate was born in London, England in 1974. Although she was never successful in school, frequently receiving D's and F's on her report card, Moss was discovered by a modeling agent early in life. In 1988 she was returning home from a family vacation to the Caribbean when she had a layover at the JFK airport and was spotted by Sarah Doukas, the founder of Storm Model Agency. The relationship has been a tumultuous one, spawning a cocaine scandal that caused Kate to lose several contracts worth several million pounds with various fashion houses. Photographs of Moss and Doherty snorting cocaine during one of Doherty's recording sessions were sold to the newspaper, the Daily Mirror.Kate's friends in the fashion and entertainment industry have rallied behind her to show their support. It is said that designer Alexander McQueen was seen wearing a shirt that said We love you Kate . Designer and best friend, Stella McCartney was the first to offer her work since the scandal broke, proving that Kate still has what it takes.Since her name has been smeared in magazines throughout 2005 and 2006 due to her alleged cocaine usage, Kate checked herself into a rehab center in an attempt to get clean.
